BBC Award Winning Garden Design in the West Midlands

Having experienced significant postnatal depression, I found solace and hope in gardening and the great outdoors. Today, after many years, I'm fortunate enough to live my passion full time with my family by helping other people to find the same joy and tranquility that I did, by designing beautiful gardens for wonderful clients that all too often become my friends.

my story

About Me

Following the birth of my amazing son in 2014, I fell into a period of postnatal depression. I wasn’t sure where I was going and as much as I wanted to provide everything I could for my amazing son, I couldn’t help feeling like I was a being a bad mother to him. It was heartbreaking.

Through a recommendation from a friend, I sought out counselling. My counsellor recommended I practice mindfulness. I’d always found that the easiest place for me to escape the stress and anxiety was in the garden. Something about being outside made me able to step outside of my depression and find peace.

There was something about growing something from seed that gave me a real sense of accomplishment. I found that turning my barren garden into something beautiful was symbolic of my journey through depression. As I gradually plucked away at the weeds and replaced them with beautiful flowers, I found myself developing a much healthier sense of well being. It made me feel whole again.

My Process

How it works

1

Discovery

To begin, I’ll visit you and your garden to get a feel for the space and your tastes. I’ll then measure everything up and we’ll discuss some initial ideas and concepts.

2

Brief

Next, we’ll create an brief for your project. With this, I’ll then quote for a few different options at different price points so you can choose the right design for you and your budget.

3

Design

Following the initial discovery period and measurement, I’ll begin by sketching out early concept ideas, drawing up outline plans and selecting various plant combinations.

4

Refinement

With early concepts in place, we’ll work together to review and refine the final designs to suit your taste and budget.

5

Site Preparation

To bring your garden to life, we must first prepare the blank canvas. This stage involves de-weeding and removing plant waste and rubble.

6

Construction

I’ll work directly with your chosen hard landscapers to interpret designs and prepare the site for planting and installation.

7

Sourcing

Many seasonal plants are hard or impossible to find when out-of-season – I can help source the right plants for you.

8

Installation

With all plants, decorative items and materials available, I’ll get to work installing it all. Finally your dream garden begins to come to life!

9

Staging

Little touches add up and make for a big impact. That’s why the last step is to snag for the last remaining tweaks, leaving your garden looking the most perfect it ever has.

10

Handover

Finally, I’ll provide you with detailed after-care instructions to help keep your beautiful garden looking its best over time.
